PicoSens™ Total Cholesterol Assay Kit는 흡광도 (Colorimetric) 및 형광 (Fluorescent) 측정의 정량 분석을 통해 Free cholesterol, Cholesteryl Esters 또는 모두를 검출하는 데 사용될 수 있습니다. 혈액 내 Cholesterol의 대부분은 Cholesteryl Esters에 의해 Free Cholesterol로 가수 분해되는 Cholesterol esterase 형태로 존재합니다. Cholesterol은 산화 효소에 의해 산화되어 부산물로서 H₂O₂를 생성하며, 이는 cholesterol probe와 반응하여 흡광 (OD = 570 nm) 또는 형광 (Ex/Em = 535/590 nm) 을 생성합니다.
