Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) 는 과산화수소 음이온 (Free radical을 포함한 다양한 세포의 신진 대사에서 생성되는 ROS)의 산소 및 과산화수소로의 변위를 촉매하는 중요한 항산화 효소이며, Antioxidant capacity를 측정하는 지표로 사용되어왔습니다. XO / NBT는 SOD 분석에 널리 사용되었지만 이 방법들은 반응의 결과 생성되는 Formazan dye의 Water solubility가 낮고 Xanthine Oxidase의 환원형과도 반응하는 단점을 가지고 있습니다. 바이오맥스의 OxiTec™ SOD Assay Kit는 이러한 문제를 보완하기 위해 WST (Water Soluble Tetrazolium Salt)를 사용하여 보다 안정적이고 정확한 SOD 활성을 측정할 수 있습니다.
